During wintertime we hold Nuuksio Ice Park in Espoo. It is located next to Swinghill ski resort and address is Nuuksiontie 71. It gives great environment for ice climbing and mountaineering courses and training. We also highly recommend you attend in our guided ice climbing experience, in which all climbing gear and guidance is provided. You will only need to have a proper winter clothing and you can find the timetable for shared groups online.

For companies and private groups
Whether you are seeking something fun to do with friends and family or customer occasion and employees refreshment day is coming, we have activities for all events. We arrange different guided climbing experiences for all group sizes throughout the year. Our guided climbing experiences are suitable for all fitness ability and no previous experience is needed. Our only minimum age limit is nine for ice climbing, otherwise all ages are welcome to other climbing sessions.
From April to October we offer, for example, guided rock-climbing experience in Solvalla Nuuksio and Kauhala Kirkkonummi. The place is called Kauhala’s Brook Valley. It is perfect place to try rock climbing in a safe environment, relax with friends, family or co-workers and enjoy the nature as its finest. Other place, we offer rock climbing experiences, is Käärmekallio in Vantaa. This place has many different routes to try on and it is located in a place which is easy access from all directions. This place suites perfectly for beginners due to its variable route options. We also arrange other trips and climbing experiences for example to Olhava, Revenne and Havukallio upon a request.
From January to March, we are happy to host and maintain the only Ice Park in greater Helsinki area. It is located in Nuuksio National Park in Espoo next to Swinghill ski resort and called Nuuksio Ice Park. This place gives an amazing environment to try out ice-climbing and train mountaineering skills in a safe environment. If you want to try some new outdoor sport in winter, this place is for you. We offer guided ice-climbing experiences for all group sizes and fitness abilities. Minimum age limit to participate to ice-climbing session is nine dues to its complexity of equipment.
Dates for private group experiences are always chosen together with the customer. Time for all climbing experiences is set aside two to four hours depending on the group size and customer’s needs. All equipment needed in climbing is provided by us, you will only need to have weatherproof clothing. Note that the change in weather can lead to the change of a chosen date since our activities are outdoors.
Guided ice climbing experience in private group for 1-5 participants costs 320€.
Guided rock-climbing experience in private group for 1-5 participants costs 289€.

NUUKSIO ICE PARK
Warmly welcome for all new and old customers to Nuuksio Ice Park to train ice climbing and mountaineering skills. Freezing has been started and you can follow the project on our Facebook page.
Pirunkallio Ice Park has been moved to Nuuksio Ice Park since beginning of the season 2020. Nuuksio Ice Park is located next to Swinghill ski slopes.
We welcome all to experience ice climbing and to train mountaineering and glacier skills. With us you can practice skills needed in mountains and icy conditions in in a safe environment with experienced guides.
We sell season passes and one day tickets to Nuuksio Ice Park for ice climbing for those customers, who have completed our ice climbing basic course or have successfully completed proficiency test and have the basic skills what comes to ice climbing (check needed skills below). Those climbing independently must build a safe climbing route for themselves.

Needed proficiency test skills for top rope ice climbing only:
– building top rope anchor using trees
– abseiling
– safe use of a belay device
– attaching to the rope using eight knot
– cross-checking
– the most important special features related to ice climbing safety
These skills are needed for top rope ice climbing and do not automatically guarantee permission to lead climb. Permission for lead ice climbing in Nuuksio Ice Park is always given separately, please contact us in these cases.
Lead climbing is forbidden without permission.
If you are unsure of your skills, please do not come to the proficiency test, but take our ice climbing basic course.
How to come to Nuuksio Ice Park?
Nuuksio Ice Park is located next to Swinghill ski slopes. Address is Nuuksiontie 71 Espoo. Route to the Ice park starts from the parking lot on top of the Swinghill ski slopes. It follows the mountain bike route all the way to the bottom of the Ice Park. Meeting point for all our courses and guided activities is in Swinghill’s parking lot. From there we will go together to the storeroom to get the equipment and from there we continue together to the bottom of the Ice Park. In case a lecture is part of the course, it will also be hold in Swinghill area.
Public transportation to Nuuksio Ice Park. There is an easy access to Nuuksio Ice Park with public transportation from Espoo Center. The bus number 245 (A/K) from platform 32 goes to Nuuksionpää. Platform 32 is in bus stop area in Kirkkojärventie. The closest bus stop to Nuuksio Ice Park is Haltia. From Helsinki Center you may take a train to Espoo Center. Trains from Helsinki to Espoo Center are Y, U, L and E. The journey from Espoo Center to Haltia takes around 20 minutes and from Helsinki Center to Haltia around an hour. You will need BC ticket from Espoo Center and ABC from Helsinki Center. Haltia’s bus stop is in C-zone. Timetables and for more information you can found from hsl.fi.

GUIDED CLIMBING EXPERIENCES
Guided ice climbing experience in shared group
Guided ice climbing experiences are arranged every week in Nuuksio Ice Park from December to April.
If you want to try out ice climbing or bring your own group to try it without previous experience from climbing, this activity is for you. During our two-hour ice climbing experience, you get to do ice climbing lead by our guides, and you get familiar with ice climbing gears. Often you may also have the opportunity to try belaying under guidance. Ice climbing is a perfect activity for customer occasions or employees’ refreshment day. It is also perfect for the whole family activity, friend groups and even for stag or hen parties. You can always come back to try ice climbing for over and over again or take our ice climbing basic course if you got excited about ice climbing.
We add new dates for ice climbing experience in shared group throughout the whole season, so you can pick the date which is best suited for you. The price per person for guided ice climbing session in shared groups is 75€. This activity includes all needed equipment and guidance during the whole activity. You will only need to be prepared with weatherproof clothing. We do want to remind that all participants need to be in a reasonably condition in order to participate for ice climbing so that it doesn’t cause any danger for one’s health. Minimum age to be able to participate is nine.

Guided rock-climbing experience
Guided rock-climbing experience is easy and safe way to get familiar with climbing as a hobby. In our rock-climbing experience, you get to do top rope rock climbing in shared groups, abseiling and get familiar with climbing gear needed under the guidance of our professional guides. This experience takes around two hours and is usually arranged in Käärmekallio in Vantaa. All equipment needed and a guide is included to the price. You will only need to have weatherproof clothing.
Whether you want to take some time out with friends and family, or you have a customer occasion or employees’ refreshment day coming, rock-climbing experience is perfect activity for every event. In our guided rock-climbing experience, no previous knowledge of climbing is needed, and it is suitable for all ages and fitness ability. The program of the rock-climbing experience is always planned to meet the customers’ abilities.
We also arrange other rock-climbing experiences for example in Revenne, Olhava and Havukallio upon a request. We arrange guided rock-climbing experiences from April to October according to weather. We can also organize guided indoor climbing experiences upon a request. The date for other climbing experiences and private groups is always chosen together with customer. COURSES
Ice climbing basic course
Our ice climbing basic course consist mostly of practical training and during the day you have a lot of time to practice. The course takes around eight hours and includes all equipment needed, professional guide throughout the day and course material.
We recommend that every independent ice climber starts their hobby with ice climbing basic course. In our course, you learn all the basic skills that are needed in independent top rope ice climbing in order to practice it in a safe way.
The essential objectives learned in our ice climbing basic course are:
– knots and equipment needed in outdoor climbing
– building the top rope anchor in different situations
– abseiling
– ice climbing technique
– most common hazards and how to avoid them
Before taking this course, you will need to have the knowledge from indoor climbing basic course (belaying top rope climber, eight knot and collaboration between climbing partner). If you are unsure of your skills or you have not taken indoor climbing course before, please contact us by email outofoffice@adventurepartners.fi and we can arrange the ice climbing pre-session for you when needed.
Rock-climbing basic course
Rock-climbing basic course is arranged in Käärmekallio in Vantaa and it gives you all needed skills to start independent rock-climbing hobby. You will learn needed skills and facts for independent top rope rock-climbing. The main contents are:
– equipment and knots needed in outdoor climbing
– building a top rope anchor in different situations
– belaying from the top and from the bottom
– abseiling
– rock-climbing technique
– most common hazards and how to avoid them

Mountaineering basic course
Mountaineering basic course is directed to people interested in mountaineering or going to their first mountaineering trip. This one-day intensive course gives you needed skills and knowledge what comes to the safe mountaineering travels. During the day we practice how to act in a steep condition using ropes, ice axe, crampons and ascending handle. After this course you will also know how to move with upper mountain boots and crampons in a safe way. During this course you also have the opportunity to try ice-climbing using two ice axes and test different mountaineering equipment from our broad gear selection.
This course is arranged in Nuuksio Ice Park next to Swinghill ski resort in Espoo and takes one day. Nuuksio Ice Park provides excellent environment for mountaineering training. The course includes guide and all equipment needed. You will only need to have weatherproof clothing and some snacks.

Glacier basic course for backcountry skiers and hikers
Glacier basic course is an intensive one-day course, which gives you the basic skills and knowledge on how to independently move in glaciers and how to survive from simple difficulties. During this course you will learn how to move in a glacier using ropes, how to abseil and climb along the rope, how to set up snow and ice secures and the main tallying techniques. The course is arranged from the skier’s point of view and in many practical training situations we take advantage of using skis, snow shovels and backpacks.
The course is planned so that it holds a lot of practical training and is also suitable for people who have already taken similar kind of a course. This course includes all equipment needed and a guide as well as theory and practical training. This course takes one day and is hold in Nuuksio Ice Park, which gives excellent environment for mountain training. You will only need to be prepared with weatherproof clothing and snacks. Minimum age limit for this course is 14 years.
